Composite Metal Deck — Type WR Floor Deck
SDI & UL Certified • Grade 50 Standard • Custom Cut-to-Fit
Composite metal deck acts as a permanent form for concrete. Once the concrete cures, the deck and concrete work together as a composite unit to resist loads — eliminating or reducing the need for shoring during construction.
Available Profiles
1.5" Composite Deck
Lightweight solution for commercial and industrial buildings. Ribbed profile bonds with concrete to create efficient composite floor systems for moderate spans.
2" Composite Deck
The most popular profile for projects requiring higher load capacities and longer spans. Widely used in high-rise buildings, hospitals, and parking structures.
3" Composite Deck
Maximum load-bearing capacity and long-span capability. Designed for heavy-duty industrial environments and large-scale commercial construction.

Why Cutting Edge Decking
Composite action eliminates temporary shoring in most applications, saving time and cost.
Steel and concrete working together achieve spans and loads impossible with either material alone.
Lengths as short as 1 foot cut to specification at no extra charge.
Grade 50 supplied as standard across all profiles and gauges.
Button-punch interlocking lap or TEK screw fastening — your choice.
Fully certified for code compliance on any commercial project.
Common Applications
- Multi-Story Office Buildings
- Hospitals & Medical Facilities
- Parking Structures
- High-Rise Residential
- Industrial Facilities
- Mixed-Use Developments
Frequently Asked Questions
Composite metal deck acts as permanent formwork for concrete. Once the concrete cures, the embossed steel deck and concrete bond structurally and work together as a single composite unit to resist loads — eliminating or reducing the need for shoring and significantly increasing floor system capacity.
We supply composite deck in 1.5", 2", and 3" profiles in gauges 16 through 22 gauge with Galvanized G90 finish. The 2" profile is the most widely specified for commercial and multi-story construction, while the 3" profile is used for heavy-duty spans.
Composite deck bonds structurally with the cured concrete, allowing the steel and concrete to share floor loads as one system. Non-composite deck serves as permanent formwork only — the concrete slab carries loads independently. Composite is typically required for multi-story office buildings, hospitals, and high-rise residential projects.
In most applications, no. The composite design eliminates temporary shoring, saving significant time and cost on your project. However, for very long spans or heavy pours, your structural engineer of record should confirm shoring requirements.
All composite deck profiles are supplied with Galvanized G90 finish as standard, providing superior corrosion resistance suitable for concrete floor applications in commercial and multi-story building environments.
Composite metal deck is corrugated steel floor deck with embossments that bond with the concrete poured on top of it. Deck and slab act together as one structural system, which allows longer spans and higher loads than the slab alone.
Composite floor deck is supplied in 1.5-inch, 2-inch and 3-inch depths, all with a 36-inch cover width, in 22, 20, 18 and 16 gauge. 1.5-inch deck weighs 1.6, 2.0, 2.6 and 3.0 psf; 2-inch weighs 1.6, 1.9, 2.5 and 3.2 psf; 3-inch weighs 1.7, 2.1, 2.7 and 3.5 psf.
Composite deck bonds with the concrete and acts as structural reinforcement for the slab. Form deck (non-composite) serves only as permanent formwork, and the slab carries the load by itself.
